Large images are the single biggest cause of slow websites. Studies of page load times consistently show that images account for most of the transfer weight on a typical page, and compression is the highest-leverage fix available. A 4 MB hero photograph that loads over 3G directly damages your bounce rate, your Core Web Vitals, and your Google ranking - while a 300 KB compressed version looks virtually identical.
This compressor works entirely in your browser. Modern codecs (WebP, AVIF, optimized JPEG) are now available as JavaScript libraries, which means the exact same compression algorithms that server tools use can run on your machine in a few seconds. There is no upload, no server queue, no watermark, and no file-size cap tied to a free tier - the only limit is your own memory.
Compression removes data the eye does not notice. In lossy formats, redundant chroma detail is quantized and rarely-seen frequencies are dropped. In lossless formats (PNG optimization, deduplicating metadata, stripping EXIF), the same pixels are simply described more efficiently. The result is typically a 70-90% reduction for photos and 30-70% for graphics, with visual quality that survives side-by-side comparison.
Drag and drop photos from your computer, or browse to select them. Add as many as you need at once - batch mode handles an entire folder and downloads results individually or as one ZIP.
For photos, JPEG or WebP gives the best size/quality balance; keep PNG when you need transparency or sharp edges; choose AVIF when file size is the priority. Lower the quality slider to shrink further - you can watch the resulting size live before downloading.
Check the before/after size and preview for each file, then download. Because everything runs in your browser, your photos never touch a server - a key advantage for client work, documents, and screenshots you do not want to upload to a third-party tool.
Web images are usually the main weight of a slow page. A practical setup: export photos as WebP or JPEG at roughly 70-80 quality, long edge 1600-2000 px for hero images and 800-1200 px for content images. That typically lands files between 50 and 300 KB, which keeps page weight under control without visible quality loss. For e-commerce product photos, keep a bit higher quality (80-85) because detail sells the product.
Set an initial quality, check the output size, then step the quality slider down until the readout reaches your target. For example, to fit a job-portal or visa upload limit of 2 MB, start at quality 80 and reduce until the size is safely under the limit. To get a photo under 100 KB, target quality 40-55 and consider also resizing the image before compression - reducing dimensions saves more than lowering quality ever can.
